What Rehome actually does

Rehome is a resale marketplace for used and ex-display kitchens, bathrooms, and fitted furniture. It doesn’t hold stock itself: homeowners, retailers, and designers list kitchens they’re removing, Rehome helps arrange photography and listing, and takes a commission when a sale completes, with buyers arranging removal and delivery. The company was founded in 2015 by Helen and Phil Lord, and secured investment from Deborah Meaden on BBC’s Dragons’ Den.

“We are so pleased to have sold our old kitchen through Rehome. They are organised, very professional, and the whole experience was very positive. The buyers of our kitchen are thrilled, and we all feel better that the kitchen didn’t go to landfill.”

Where Rehome shows up

  • Homeowners renovating: sell a kitchen or bathroom that’s still in good condition instead of skipping it.

  • Retail take-back: a “Rehome or Recycle” partnership with kitchen retailer Magnet, running across 8 Magnet stores.

Proof, not just claims

19,968,955 kgCO2 saved by customers, per Rehome’s live sustainability counter
8,160trees saved, per the same running counter
~3,500 kgcarbon saved on average per kitchen resold

Rehome is a Certified B Corporation, and says it was the first kitchen company to achieve the certification. It has also won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development, a Barclays Entrepreneur Award for Sustainability, and was named Marie Claire’s Sustainable Homes & Lifestyle Retailer of the Year. Its carbon-saved methodology was developed with Liverpool John Moores University and Eco-i NW.

Why this belongs on a sustainability directory

Rehome’s SDG12 case is structural, not aspirational: it built a commission-based marketplace specifically so a used kitchen has somewhere to go besides a skip, and it publishes a running counter of the CO2 and trees that decision has saved. Its SDG13 case comes from the same mechanism, translated into an averaged carbon-saved figure per kitchen resold, developed with an outside university rather than invented in-house.
