What E2open actually does

E2open is a supply chain management software provider founded in 2000, originally a joint venture between major electronics and manufacturing companies including Hitachi, IBM, LG, and Toshiba. The platform gives manufacturers, retailers, and logistics providers real-time visibility across their supply chains, connecting demand, inventory, and logistics planning in one system. In August 2025, E2open was acquired by WiseTech Global and now operates as part of that company.

Why this belongs on a sustainability directory

By giving manufacturers and retailers real-time visibility into their supply chains, E2open’s platform helps clients reduce the overproduction, excess inventory, and inefficient logistics routing that drive unnecessary waste and emissions, a direct link to SDG12 (responsible consumption and production). The scale of its client base, spanning electronics, consumer goods, automotive, and logistics sectors, means efficiency gains at this level compound across entire supply chains rather than a single company’s operations.
