It’s an initiative where quality meets cause, with every brew connecting consumers to a broader mission of bettering lives. Casual moments shared over a perfectly chilled can are transformed into meaningful experiences — each sip contributes to a story of community, care, and collective impact. In a world where every action matters, Brewgooder reminds everyone that even the most ordinary moments, like enjoying a beer, can have extraordinary effects.

What Brewgooder actually does

Brewgooder is a Glasgow craft beer company that describes itself as “good beer doing good things”. Its range includes Goood Beer, the Dripp fruited lagers and Sun & Stone Lager, sold online and through UK retailers. Since day one, sales have funded people and community projects through the Brewgooder Foundation, which the company says promote equity and foster opportunity on a local and global scale.

Water is where it started. Co-founder Alan Mahon contracted a parasite from contaminated water while living in rural Nepal in 2012. Brewgooder launched in 2016 with a crowdfunded first brew, and within three months it funded its first Foundation project: a 10,000L water tower supplying safe drinking water to the community of Chiluzi, Malawi. In 2021 it partnered with charity: water, pledging 100 litres of clean water for every litre of beer sold over three years and extending support beyond Malawi to 21 more countries.

“Water is the key to life yet there are still hundreds of millions of lives that are dramatically impacted and limited by a lack of access to safe clean water.”

Alan Mahon, Co-founder, Brewgooder

Why this belongs on a sustainability directory

Brewgooder turns an ordinary product into funding for impact. Beer sales paid for water towers and other water projects in Malawi, giving communities a safe supply in place of contaminated sources. That is a direct contribution to SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). Its Fairtrade fonio supply chain and solidarity brews tie the same model to SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): the drinks are made with traceable sourcing and part of the value goes back to producer communities.
