M.A.P Technology is a program to make Li-ion batteries last longer and work better.

The M.A.P® technology is designed to make lithium-ion batteries work better and last longer. The technology is based on more than ten years of research at the CEA laboratory. Its goal is to keep batteries in good shape for as long as possible, depending on how they are used and where they are. Measure, Act, and Predict is what MAP® stands for. The Solution checks the actual State-of-Health (SoH) while it is being used, so its reliability and capacity are always guaranteed. Then, it changes the charging rules based on the battery’s health, its environment, and how it is being used. This can extend its life by up to 100%. Lastly, it predicts how long the battery will still work based on how it is used and how it ages. By collecting and analyzing data over the course of a battery’s life, it will be possible to help it find its best second life.

Positive facts about M.A.P Technology

Battery State-of-Health diagnosis at ±2% accuracy
+20 to +100% battery lifetime extension
50% battery waste avoided
Reduction of emissions associated with batteries (by up to 50%) by extending their lifetime
Less than 3 years payback time
12% savings in operating cost

About the curator

Arnaud Michel is the founder and curator of Keys for Tomorrow. In 2014, his master’s thesis on community currencies and sustainable development won the Prix Recherche at Belgium’s Prix de l’Économie Sociale; the research was later published as Ecological Economics (Elsevier, 2015). He curates this directory to the same standard, cross-checking every project against established certification bodies and directories — including B Corp, 1% for the Planet, and Solar Impulse Foundation — alongside direct research into each project’s own record.
