The Story Behind the Brand
Tippy Tippens, the Chief Eternal Optimist of Goods That Matter, is the heart and soul behind the project. A social entrepreneur, designer, and consultant, she’s passionate about building sustainable and equitable growth. Her mission? To make the objects we live with work for us — not against us — while fighting climate change. After moving from Brooklyn to New Orleans in 2010, inspired by the BP Oil Spill, she created BirdProject Soap, which sparked the idea for Goods That Matter. The company began on Kickstarter and grew from there, fueled by Tippy’s vision of socially inspired eco-products that poetically meet our basic needs.
Eco-Friendly and Handmade with Purpose
Every Matter-made product is handmade in the U.S. using eco-friendly materials. The focus is on creating items that are plastic-free and low waste, perfect for those who want to live more sustainably. Beyond just the materials, each product gives back to unique social and environmental causes, making every purchase a meaningful contribution to the community and the planet.
Community and Social Impact at the Core
Goods That Matter isn’t just about products — it’s about people and the planet. The company donates a portion of its proceeds to causes that support community health, happiness, and sustainability. This commitment extends locally in New Orleans and reaches neighbors around the world. It’s a women-owned business that truly embodies the spirit of giving back and making a difference through thoughtful design and conscious consumerism.
