Timpers: Creating Inclusive Footwear for Social Change

What Is the Timpers Project?

In Timpers, it’s not just about designing shoes. Nope, it’s about creating real opportunities for people with disabilities. Every pair sold promotes labor inclusion and breaks down prejudices where it truly matters — in everyday life. The team, mostly made up of people with disabilities, leads a project that bets on talent, equality, and visibility. Because here’s the thing: disability doesn’t detract, it adds. When someone chooses Timpers, they’re not just picking stylish shoes; they’re stepping into real social change. And they do it with every step.

Main Benefits of Choosing Timpers

The Origins of Timpers

The idea sparked on the blind football team of Alicante, where Aitor and Roberto were part of the technical crew. They’d launched a casual shoe brand without any distinctive mark. One day, they brought a pair to training, curious if the players would buy them. The surprise? Blind players could ‘see’ the shoes through touch. That moment inspired them to create an accessible model for everyone. With the project’s positive impact, Diego joined the team, and together they began crafting inclusive, accessible, and fashionable shoes for all.

Growth Amid the Pandemic

2020 was a rollercoaster, no doubt. Despite the global pandemic, Timpers took the chance to build from the ground up — improving the website and launching the first collection made with sustainable and recycled materials. They also earned the Special Employment Center qualification, boosting credibility and benefits for hiring people with disabilities. Plus, collaborations like the one with the Levante UD Foundation helped Timpers become a key voice on disability issues.

Milestones and Emotions

2021 was a year packed with highs and lows. Among the highlights was making the shoes worn by the entire Spanish Paralympic delegation during the TOKYO2020 games — a milestone that marked nearly three years of hard work. It was a beautiful closure to a chapter filled with dedication, challenges, and incredible moments.

Impact on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • Quality Education (SDG 4) — promoting learning and inclusion through employment.
  • Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) — creating real job opportunities for people with disabilities.
  • Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10) — breaking down social and labor barriers.
  • Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) — using sustainable and recycled materials.
  • Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) — collaborating with foundations and companies to amplify impact.

Looking Ahead with Pride and Purpose

2023 was all about pride and meaningful partnerships. Collaborations with Grupo Saona, Google, and ILUNION Hotels showed how aligned values can create magic. The work with Saona was especially touching — making footwear for restaurant staff, adapting menus for blind people, and committing to hiring a person with a disability for each restaurant. In Timpers, disability isn’t a limit; it’s pure inspiration. More than 10,000 steps have a story behind them. So, will you join the change?
