The project is all about repurposing minerals from diverse mining operations into low-carbon cementitious products. It’s a bold move to tackle one of the biggest environmental challenges out there — the massive waste and emissions generated by mining and cement production. By transforming waste into valuable materials, EnviCore is leading a holistic approach to fighting climate change, especially focusing on reducing emissions from Portland Cement, one of the toughest industrial products to decarbonize.

The Big Benefit: Cutting Carbon Emissions

Here’s the deal — the cement industry alone is responsible for at least 8% of global human-caused emissions. That’s huge. EnviCore’s mission is to change that by:

  • Reducing CO2 emissions by 0.7 tons for every ton of Portland Cement replaced.
  • Repurposing over 180 million tonnes of hazardous mine waste dumped annually into tailings ponds — that’s more than 1.5 times the waste U.S. cities send to landfills each year.
  • Utilizing waste from mining operations involving Copper, Gold, Zinc, Lead, Diamond, Clay, Nickel, Cobalt, Silver, Aluminium, Iron, and even Asbestos.
  • Incorporating clay minerals like Kaolinite and Illite, plus recycled concrete paste, post-consumer glass, and fly ash into their cementitious products.
