Dignity period products access

Dignity is on a mission to make period products accessible to everyone, ensuring that no one misses out on opportunities due to their period. Through partnerships and community support, they provide free products to those in need, advocating for change and breaking the stigma surrounding menstruation.

Dignity: Making Period Products Accessible for Everyone

What is Dignity’s Mission?

Dignity’s mission is pretty straightforward but powerful: to make period products accessible to everyone who needs them. The goal? So no one misses out on work, education, sport, or anything else life throws their way just because they have their period. It’s about breaking down barriers and making sure everyone has what they need to keep going without interruption.

The Main Benefit: Access for All

By partnering with leading businesses across Aotearoa, Dignity delivers a comprehensive offer that helps workplaces set up period products in offices. This isn’t just about handing out pads and tampons; it’s a customised subscription service that includes pads, tampons, canisters, dispensers, and even marketing material to raise awareness. Plus, for every product provided to workplaces, an equivalent number of free period products are gifted to youth and community groups, education providers, and food banks. This ensures those who can’t afford these essentials get the support they deserve and have equal opportunities.

  • 1.4 million total individual products gifted
  • 100,951 boxes of Oi pads & tampons gifted
  • 11,596 pairs of AWWA period care underwear gifted
  • 250 Give partners that have received free period products
  • 138 impact partners that have provided period products in workplaces
  • 2,214 menstrual cups gifted

How Partnerships Drive Change

Dignity works hand-in-hand with a wide range of businesses and organisations across Aotearoa. These partnerships are key to setting up period product access in workplaces, but they also create a ripple effect. When companies get involved, it normalises the conversation around periods and encourages other organisations to follow suit. It’s about building a community that supports everyone, no matter their situation.

Supporting Those Who Need It Most

One of the standout aspects of Dignity’s approach is the gifting of free period products to youth and community groups, education providers, and food banks. This means people who can’t afford these essential items aren’t left behind. It’s a real step toward equality, making sure everyone has the dignity and support they need to participate fully in life. No one should have to miss out just because of their period.

Breaking the Stigma and Advocating for Change

Dignity isn’t just about handing out products; it’s also about changing minds and attitudes. By sharing impact reports and advocating for change, the organisation is actively working to reduce the stigma surrounding periods and eradicate period poverty. This advocacy helps create a brighter future where all individuals have equal access to period products and feel supported in their lives. It’s a movement that’s as much about respect and dignity as it is about products.

Project Impact and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being – Ensuring access to essential health products.
  • SDG 4: Quality Education – Supporting students to attend school without barriers.
  • SDG 5: Gender Equality – Reducing stigma and promoting equal opportunities.

Join the Movement for Change

People in Aotearoa are missing opportunities simply because they have their periods… but that can change. By supporting Dignity’s mission, anyone can help provide free period products through youth and community groups, schools, and more. It’s about giving people their choice of period products and the dignity to live life uninterrupted. Together, it’s possible to create a future where no one is held back by something as natural as a period.
