About the Co-Founders
The driving force behind the project includes co-founders Sheldon Kennedy and Wayne McNeil. Wayne McNeil lends his extensive background as Trustee and Vice-Chairman of the Rocky View School Division and as volunteer President of the Sheldon Kennedy Foundation—an organization that notably raised over $1.2 Million during the 1998 Cross-Canada Skate to raise awareness for the prevention of child abuse. Meanwhile, Sheldon Kennedy, a celebrated former NHL player who won a Memorial Cup and a World Junior Gold Medal, is widely recognized for his courageous decision to charge his Major Junior Hockey league coach with sexual assault after enduring abuse. These experiences, marked by personal challenges and triumphs, have been pivotal in shaping policies and influencing changes in Canadian law. Their collective dedication spans over 25 years of advocacy and transformative work in BAHD prevention, making this initiative impactful and deeply rooted in real-world expertise.
