What is Skop?
Skop is the all-in-one solution designed to streamline circular material management in construction and real estate. It’s an ergonomic and complete digital tool that supports the industry’s shift towards a circular economy. By allowing users to inventory, manage, and share resources, Skop organizes the flow of materials among all players involved. Imagine a platform that not only helps workers on-site collect reliable data—sometimes even using image recognition—but also guides materials to their best fate, whether that’s reuse, refurbishing, or recycling. Plus, it automatically shares available resources through catalogs and marketplaces. Skop is more than just software; it’s a game-changer for how construction projects handle materials.
Main Benefits and Key Figures
Skop offers a range of benefits that make managing reusable materials easier and more efficient. Here’s a quick snapshot of what it brings to the table:
- +600 optimized reuse projects completed
- Over 3,800 tons of materials successfully reused
- More than 250 teams and 1,200 users actively engaged
- Tracking and tracing of over 29,000 resources in real-time
- Centralized inventory management and logistics flow for reuse
These numbers tell a story of real impact—saving time, reducing waste, and making circular economy practices accessible to everyone involved.
How Skop Facilitates Collaboration
One of Skop’s standout features is how it brings together diagnosticians, curators, project managers, and other stakeholders. By centralizing the management of reusable materials, it creates a seamless connection between all parties. Whether it’s tracking stock evolution, optimizing logistics, or coordinating efforts, Skop’s single interface keeps everyone on the same page. This kind of collaboration is crucial for maximizing reuse potential and ensuring projects run smoothly from start to finish.
The Diagnostic App: Simplifying Material Assessment
Skop includes an intuitive app tailored specifically for reuse diagnostics. This tool makes it easy to identify, quantify, and qualify materials available on construction sites. Diagnosticians can carry out their assessments with confidence, knowing the app supports accurate data collection and analysis. This step is essential because it lays the groundwork for effective reuse management, helping teams make informed decisions based on solid information.
Marketplace: Giving Materials a Second Life
Beyond inventory and diagnostics, Skop features a dedicated marketplace that promotes a transparent and efficient circular economy. This platform allows users to buy and sell reusable materials, connecting supply and demand in a way that benefits everyone. By facilitating these exchanges, Skop helps materials find new purposes instead of ending up as waste. It’s a practical solution that supports sustainability while creating value for all stakeholders.
Project Impact and Sustainable Development Goals
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – by promoting circular practices in urban construction
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – through optimizing material reuse and reducing waste
- SDG 13: Climate Action – by lowering the carbon footprint associated with construction materials
- SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – via innovative digital tools supporting industry transition
Innovations and Future Developments
Skop’s journey doesn’t stop here. The project recently won the Ville de Paris Innovation Resilience competition, which has led to the development of an internal resource manager for real estate asset managers. This new tool gathers diagnostics to optimize resource reuse or refurbishing through local actors before reintegrating materials into assets. Additionally, Skop is incubated at CSTB, where it’s enhancing automation tools dedicated to reuse and leveraging a national building database to anticipate available materials on real estate or territories undergoing renovation. These innovations promise to make circular economy practices even more accessible and effective in the near future.
