Project Overview
We are the Uncommon. Discover a new world of English wine overflowing with local character. Unbelievably good English wine awaits with award-winning English wines and spritzers. This project is all about crafting wine that is not another glass of the usual – it is unexpectedly English and unbelievably good. Grown in the Garden of England, the finest grapes come from just down the road, nurtured to burst with local character and deliver that perfectly single served experience every time… It is an innovative approach where quality, locality, and sustainability come together to redefine English winemaking.

The Vineyard Setting
Unfurling down a south-facing slope on the North Kent Downs, the vineyard resides on an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The vines are tended with the utmost care to grow world-class grapes all the way from just down the road. With chalk bands similar to those that give Champagne its renowned climate, the vineyard benefits from fertile, biodiverse soil where wildflowers are sown between the rows and beehives contribute to improved soil health. This charming setting creates an authentic backdrop for a project that cherishes local character and environmental stewardship.
Innovative Winemaking
Breaking tradition for the better is at the very heart of this winemaking process. Not tied down by old conventions, the wines are carefully crafted to overflow with local character and fine tuned to showcase subtle local notes like green apples, elderflower, and strawberries. Naturally dry, fresh, and beautifully light, every sip is perfectly single served for a little moment of something fancy. The process is as innovative as it is sustainable—the first to can wine in the country, ensuring that every can delivers a unique experience that is both delicious and responsibly produced.
Celebrated Grapes and Terroir
The wines are made with the most celebrated varietals, and here is how each contributes to the final character: Pinot Noir is considered the key Champagne varietal, known for bursting red fruits and lending its signature to sparkling, rosé, and red wines. Pinot Meunier, though unsung, brings depth and complexity crucial to the most celebrated bubblies. Chardonnay, the backbone of some of the best white wines in the world, adds body and class, while Bacchus, England’s answer to Sauvignon Blanc, offers an exquisitely aromatic profile suited to cool climates. The combination of these grapes, grown locally in Kent, exemplifies what makes the project unexpectedly English and undeniably good.
