What the Project Is
Newheat is a pioneering and innovative player in renewable and sustainable heat supply for industrial sites and urban heat networks. Founded in 2015, this company has been continuously offering innovative decarbonization solutions for large heat consumers such as cities and industries—both in France and internationally. Newheat develops, designs, builds, finances, and operates renewable heat production and recovery plants that are tailored to the specific needs of its clients. Combining the most virtuous technologies available, Newheat ensures sustainable, reliable, and competitive heat supply while valuing local resources… A truly forward-thinking project.
Main Benefit
The project delivers clear and impressive benefits in the renewable energy field. Some of the key figures and facts include:
- 77551 MWh of renewable and recovered heat delivered since the start of Newheat’s activity.
- 19387 tons of CO2 emissions avoided since its inception, which is equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of a number of people in France—based on 9.2t CO2 per inhabitant in 2022.
- More than just numbers; these figures highlight a robust commitment to decarbonization and sustainable energy solutions.
Innovative Heat Solutions
The solutions provided by Newheat are tailored for each client, with a clear understanding that industrial tools and urban heat networks need flexibility and reliability. The plants are designed not only to produce and store renewable heat but also to integrate perfectly into existing industrial processes—helping to adapt to the available local energy resources. The approach is dynamic, combining various technologies for production and recovery, independent from any single supplier. This adaptability ensures that short-term solutions remain competitive and robust in the long term… delivering solutions that truly work on the ground.
Mission for Sustainable Heat
The mission of Newheat is clear: to provide decarbonized, sustainable, tailored, and competitive heat to industrial and urban clients. Their objective is to ensure that every customer receives a customized heat supply that not only meets current energy demands but is also built on long-term sustainability. By combining recovery, production, distribution, storage, and supply of heat, the project is intricately linked to sustainability challenges. Each step of the process is designed with local resource availability in mind, supporting a transition to a lower carbon footprint while keeping energy competitive and reliable.
Clients and Latest Achievements
The project has already achieved significant milestones, reflecting its dedication and expertise in the field of renewable heat. For example, the Lactosol solar thermal plant at a whey powder factory of the Lactalis Group in 2023 stands as a beacon of innovation in solar thermal energy combined with thermal storage. Similarly, the NARBOSOL solar thermal plant serves the urban heat network of the city of Narbonne since 2021, and a solar thermal plant was successfully developed for Franco-Swiss Malteries (Boortmalt Group) in 2021. Alongside these major projects, Newheat’s latest news highlights include participation in prestigious events like BrauBeviale 2024 and the innov’climat event in Bordeaux in October 2024, as well as winning the IEA SHC Solar 2024 award with the Lactosol project. These successes are shared on the blog and news pages, offering insights into heat purchase agreements, waste heat exploitation, and specialized industry applications for low-temperature heat.
