What the Project Is
Global Empowers is the only purpose-driven social enterprise with a purpose to uplift and free millions of the impoverished people from mental and material poverty, into the hopes of a more productive future for all humanity. Founded in 2016, Global Empowers is committed to working with and establishing relationships with pioneers in social change for a better tomorrow. The mission is clear: to provide a strong foundation for igniting change and helping others become better versions of themselves. There is a belief that hope can inspire self-determination to achieve the impossible… and that those who have the courage to believe in themselves and others can change the world. With a current focus on combating waterborne diseases, Global Empowers strives to increase the quality of life by reducing the loss of life and poverty levels caused by the consumption of contaminated water in developing counties in Africa.
Main Benefits
The project prides itself on its tangible, real-life achievements. Key figures and facts include:
- 25,000 liters/day of Clean Water Provided Sustainably Through Solar Powered Energy.
- Autonomy and Self Sufficiency Through Innovative Models.
- 87% Reduction in Waterborne Illnesses Within 6 Months.
- GOLD🥇 : WELL OF HOPE – $53/MONTH: Provides clean water access to 13 people every month, which amounts to 1–2 entire households (avg. 8 people per household), impacting 156 lives annually and supplying over 936,000 liters of water each year.
- SILVER🥈 : STREAM OF CHANGE – $34/MONTH: Offers clean water access to 8 people every month, representing one full household, impacting 102 lives every year with over 612,000 liters of water provided annually.
- BRONZE🥉 : DROP OF IMPACT – $23/MONTH: Delivers clean water access to 5 people every month, which is over half a household, impacting 69 lives annually while supplying more than 414,000 liters of water every year.
Innovative Solutions
The initiative brings together several innovative solutions that blend modern technology and community-based methods. Among these are solar-powered water stations which clean dirty water using sunlight, ensuring that even the most remote villages have access to safe water every day. Environmental sustainability is further enhanced by agro-forestry projects that encourage families to grow trees and food on the same land, nurturing both nourishment and a healthy ecosystem. Community support programs educate villages on sanitation practices and hygiene to reduce sickness – a smart, simple approach that packs a powerful punch. These methods may seem straightforward, yet they create a ripple effect of positive change across communities.
Community Empowerment
A personal story lies at the heart of the project. Joseph Mwansa, the founder, grew up in the rural village of Kawambwa, Zambia, where the scarcity of clean water meant drinking from a shallow, dirty well for the first 14 years of life. Witnessing firsthand the struggles of a community battling waterborne diseases, and having later experienced the transformative impact of clean water in Australia, Mwansa’s life took a decisive turn. His journey from hardship to hope reflects the very essence of Global Empowers – bringing safe, bacteria and pathogen-free drinking water to communities in need. The story is one of determination, courage, and a deep commitment to no community being left behind.
Sustainable Practices & Partnerships
The methods used by Global Empowers underline an integrated approach to community health and sustainable development. Strategies include:
SOLAR-POWERED CLEAN WATER STATIONS: Smart water stations powered by sunlight are used to clean dirty water, ensuring that every day brings safe drinking water to villages.
COMMUNITY SANITATION SUPPORT: The organization emphasizes education on hygiene and clean practices, helping families understand and adopt healthful routines that reduce the risk of disease.
AGROFORESTRY PROJECTS: These projects support families in growing trees and food simultaneously, contributing to better nutrition and environmental conservation.
CARBON OFFSET / CLIMATE-RELATED PROJECTS: Initiatives are in place to protect nature and minimize pollution, ensuring that the Earth remains healthy and that its climate continues to support life.
Project Impact & SDGs
- Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6) – 25,000 liters/day clearly shows the dedication to providing sustainable, clean water.
- Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3) – An 87% reduction in waterborne illnesses embodies the project’s commitment to improving health outcomes.
- No Poverty (SDG 1) – By reducing material poverty and increasing access to basic needs, the foundation for a better future is built.
- Climate Action (SDG 13) – Utilizing renewable energy like solar power helps mitigate climate change and promote sustainable practices.
- Life on Land (SDG 15) – Agroforestry projects support environmental conservation and contribute to sustainable land use.
Vision for a Brighter Future
Global Empowers continues to inspire hope and progress. The initiative’s dynamic approach – blending innovative water sanitation solutions with vital community support and sustainable environmental practices – is a beacon of change. With programs like “WELL OF HOPE,” “STREAM OF CHANGE,” and “DROP OF IMPACT,” tangible improvements in day-to-day life are within reach. By emphasizing not just the technical means to success but also the human stories behind every innovation, the project creates a natural, conversational rhythm that resonates deeply. The challenges of waterborne diseases and environmental degradation are met with practical, scalable, and heartfelt solutions. The narrative of overcoming obstacles with renewable energy, education, and community spirit serves as a powerful reminder that change is possible – little drops of impact can accumulate into streams of change, ultimately turning into wells of hope.
