What is the Project?
KOMUT: COMMUNICATE AND CHANGE is a project dedicated to creating meaningful alternatives and promoting a culture of eco-responsibility. The name embodies two essential principles: communicate and change – a bridge between our current habits and the choices that shape tomorrow. It’s all about a necessary “switch” to reinvent a more sustainable world that respects ecological values. Changing our way of designing objects also means embracing a new mode of consumption that is properly adapted to both the planet and our societies. Alongside these refined and artisanal products, DELICIOUSWASTE.ORG offers tools and fun recipes targeting the N2N generation (from Nature 2 Nature). The initiative educates and supports young individuals and their parents by transforming everyday waste into fully biodegradable, home compostable objets such as bowls, lamp shades, fruit skeezers, soap holders, and flower pots… making a real contribution to urban ecological empowerment.
Main Benefits
Key figures and facts emphasize:
- Recycled Materials: Sourced directly from French and local recycling centers.
- Innovation: A production strategy that merges robots, extruders, and parametric design.
- Made in Paris: All pieces are manufactured in a Parisian workshop alongside a dedicated family of Gloutons robots.
- Personalizable Designs: Custom-made and semi-custom emotional designs similar to haute couture.
- 100% Circular: Recycled materials are given a unique second life, ensuring objects stay desirable.
- Traceability: A label integrated into each product offers detailed information on origin, material, and production specifics.
- Artisanal Finishing: Products are carefully deburred by hand after printing to guarantee durability and premium quality.
The Sustainable Approach
Sustainable innovation is at the heart of this project. Using recycled materials and an eco-responsible production logic, every aspect of production is designed to minimize environmental impact. Each luminaire and object not only carries a refined design but also reflects a commitment to circularity. From sourcing raw materials directly from local recycling centers to manufacturing pieces in a local Parisian workshop, each step ensures that sustainability is interwoven with craftsmanship. It’s a creative, organic process… blending tradition with modern technology to produce tangible benefits in environmental preservation.
Innovative Lighting Designs
A standout feature of the project is its innovative lighting collection. The creations include VOLTA, where each luminaire resembles a pearl of light around a luminous core; TUBBIE, which boasts modern lines offering a dynamic composition and a unique play of reflections; MEDUSA, an eco-designed piece with fine, fluid curves; FRAGMENT, where connections seem to vanish creating the illusion of floating lights; VEGA, noted for its iridescent transparency; LUMA, which diffuses light evenly in space; TERRA, that subtly recalls the heritage of the Memphis movement; APOLLO, with its spiral structure and metallic reflections; and IKO, inspired by a traditional Japanese doll. Each design is crafted to project delicate and vibrant light, transforming both the object and the spaces they illuminate in an unostentatious yet sophisticated way.
Collaborative Projects and High-Quality Craftsmanship
The commitment to sustainability and artistic design is further showcased through collaborative projects. For instance, the LUSTRE installations in Paris’ 15th arrondissement and at TOUR ALTIPLANO in La Défense are not just decorative lights – they are manifestos of environmental commitment, artisanal know-how, and a refined vision of materials. In addition, projects like CIRKO, implemented in the Les 4 Temps shopping center, feature eco-responsible planters that enhance urban greening, while KALIGRAPH at Tangram in Marseille enriches cafeterias with decorative graphic screens. A particularly dynamic initiative at Station F in Paris saw the creation of specialized chairs, stools, and wall lights, all made in a “green,” joyful, and bright spirit, showcasing the blend of design excellence and environmental mindfulness.

Empowering Urban Communities Through Waste Upcycling
DELICIOUSWASTE.ORG plays a pivotal role in empowering people living in big urban cities by introducing them to the art of waste upcycling. This initiative provides free recipes and videos on its website, while also offering educative kits and objects made from organic urban waste. The transformation of seemingly mundane waste into daily usable objets not only supports sustainable living but also inspires a virtuous trend in waste management. By setting up local DeliciousWaste entities under an open source model, individuals can launch their own business ventures, turning waste upcycling education into a revenue stream. This dynamic approach helps bridge the gap between environmental responsibility and everyday practicality, ensuring that urbanites have the tools and knowledge to actively participate in recycling efforts. The initiative resonates with the idea that living in a city can become a part of a larger environmental solution, where practical design meets eco-conscious creativity… leading to tangible, positive changes.
