Wonder Beans: Greed-Free Coffee and Tea for a Sustainable Future

What is Wonder Beans?

Wonder Beans is all about coffee and tea that’s not just delicious but also Greed-Free®. It’s a project that challenges the usual coffee and tea world — where greed and pollution often take center stage. Instead, Wonder Beans builds a food chain where everyone wins, especially the farmers. Their mission? To choose delicious Greed-Free® products that support farmers living in poverty and promote sustainable farming. It’s about making a real difference, one cup at a time.

The Hard Reality Behind Coffee and Tea

Here’s the tough truth that makes this project so important:

  • 15 million hectares of coffee and tea plantations worldwide are polluting the environment.
  • There are 12.5 million coffee farmers across 70 countries, and nearly half of them live below the poverty line.
  • 45% of these farmers live even below the internationally recognized poverty line.
  • 5.5 million farming families struggle to make ends meet and can barely afford to pay their workers.
  • Every hour, 1.7 million trees are cut down, often to create more agricultural land because farmers need extra income.
  • About 25% of pesticides and fertilizers used contain poisons that are banned in Europe.

How Wonder Beans Makes a Difference

Wonder Beans tackles these issues head-on with a clear solution:

  • Direct, long-term contracts with farmers to ensure stability.
  • Price guarantees that are above market rates, so farmers earn a fair living.
  • Complete transparency to the farmer, building trust and accountability.

The result? Farmers earn on average 50% more and enjoy income stability — which means they can finally live a normal life. No more just scraping by.

Going Beyond Sustainability: More CO₂ Absorbed Than Emitted

Wonder Beans doesn’t stop at being fossil-free, using circular packaging, or offering 100% organic products. Every cup of coffee or tea you enjoy actually helps absorb more CO₂ than is emitted. How? Through carbon farming and reforestation projects that store CO₂ in the soil and biomass. It’s a direct investment in sustainable farming, with large-scale projects that are traceable right down to the farmer level. Curious about your impact? Perfect Taste Meets Top Quality

Quality is king here. Wonder Beans’ coffee beans are hand-picked — only the ripest cherries make the cut, which means a rich, complex flavor you just can’t get with machines. Their artisan roastery is fossil-free and combines traditional roasting techniques with modern precision. Roasting happens in small batches, carefully controlling temperature and timing to avoid bitterness and bring out a full, balanced flavor. Plus, their coffee ranks in the top 10% worldwide as specialty coffee, meeting the highest international standards for flavor, purity, and traceable origin. Each batch is tested by certified quality experts to ensure excellence.

Impacting Communities and the Environment

  • SDG 1: No Poverty — by ensuring farmers earn a living income.
  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger — supporting sustainable agriculture.
  • SDG 5: Gender Equality — empowering women in coffee farming communities.
  • SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production — promoting circular packaging and organic farming.
  • SDG 13: Climate Action — absorbing more CO₂ than emitted through carbon farming.
  • SDG 15: Life on Land — reforestation and restoring natural balance on farms.

Meet the Projects Behind the Beans

Wonder Beans runs several inspiring projects that bring their mission to life. In Peru’s Amazon, Project Eddie transforms traditional coffee plantations into forest-rich Wonder Farms that absorb CO₂ — starting with 50 hectares in Phase 1. In Uganda, the CO₂ Absorbing Farms, David, restore natural balance by adding bananas and beehives alongside coffee, now in Phase 2. Then there’s the Wonder Women Collective in East Uganda, where women — especially single mothers — do the heavy lifting in coffee fields but often have little say. This project supports them, helping improve their working conditions and giving them a stronger voice. These projects show how coffee and tea can be more than just drinks — they can be a force for good.
