The Mission Behind the Movement

Tippy Tippens, the Chief Eternal Optimist and founder of Goods That Matter, is a social entrepreneur and designer passionate about sustainable and equitable growth. She believes the objects we live with should work for us, not against us, and is deeply committed to fighting climate change. After moving from Brooklyn to New Orleans in 2010 following the BP Oil Spill, she created BirdProject Soap, which sparked the idea for Goods That Matter. The company began on Kickstarter and has grown through programs like Propeller’s Fellowship and New Ventures Accelerator. Tippy’s background includes teaching Social Political Design, designing for major brands, and holding advanced degrees in Industrial Design and Fine Arts.

Understanding Benefit Corporations

Goods That Matter is proud to be the first Benefit Corporation in Louisiana and achieved Certified B-Corp status in September 2023.
