What is WaVa?
WaVa is a digital marketplace for the sale and buy of industrial by‐products (waste). It offers an innovative exchange platform where industrials can sell or purchase secondary raw material, helping to develop a circular economy in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. The project is all about turning what many consider waste into new opportunities. By designing a system that allows for the direct reuse or recycling of chemicals, WaVa aims to prevent incineration and actively reduce environmental impacts. This approach not only cuts costs but also significantly reduces the ecological footprint of businesses, making it a forward‐thinking solution in today’s industrial market… an idea that seems to blend practicality with sustainability in a very natural way.
Main Benefits
The benefits of the WaVa project speak for themselves. Key figures and facts include:
- Reduction of overall ecological footprint by promoting reuse and recycling.
 - Decrease in operational costs for industrial trash management.
 - A new revenue stream for businesses by turning waste into raw material.
 - Access to a more competitive price for by‐products compared to traditional raw materials.
 - Enhanced security of supply chains through complementary sourcing.

Services Offered
WaVa distinguishes itself by its targeted services designed to enhance waste management procedures across industries. One service provided is Waste Management Assessments, in which the waste management strategy of a business is thoroughly reviewed to optimise treatment and processing. Alongside this, the platform also offers the Creation of a Waste Upgrading Pathway, which carefully identifies the most profitable channels for by‐products based on production characteristics. This clearly ensures that industrial waste does not go to waste but instead is visible on the marketplace, allowing for the creation of a valuable, circular reuse chain.
Who is Behind WaVa?
The project is built on the expertise of experienced professionals. The team includes Henri Klunge, a founder and risk prevention officer responsible for all matters relating to the carriage of dangerous goods; Yannick Gendre, founder and chemical engineer with deep expertise in industrial processes and waste management; and Laurent Collet, founder and IT Consultant who manages all administration matters including contractualisation. This blend of technical and administrative skills provides a robust foundation for addressing the challenges and opportunities within the industrial waste market. Their combined experience ensures the platform runs smoothly and safely, reflecting an organizational commitment to excellence and sustainable practices.
How the Marketplace Works
The dual approach of the platform is designed for both sellers and buyers. For sellers, the challenge lies in the disposal of industrial waste, which often carries significant environmental costs and high operational risks. However, some waste products can be repurposed as raw materials by another industry – an insight that drives the marketplace’s strategy. For buyers, the platform offers a way to secure their supply chains by purchasing by‐products, potentially at more competitive prices than those found on standard channels. This creates a win‐win scenario: sellers benefit from a new revenue stream, and buyers can reduce the risk of supply chain disruptions while saving money… all through a single, easy‐to-use exchange.
Project Impact
- SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – by promoting the reuse and recycling of industrial waste.
 - SDG 13: Climate Action – through reducing incineration and lowering ecological footprints.
 - SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure – by providing an innovative platform that transforms waste management.
 - SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – by contributing to an environmentally adaptive and sustainable industrial ecosystem.

Final Thoughts on WaVa
The WaVa project represents a significant step towards sustainable industrial practices. By creating a digital marketplace where industrial by‐products are revalued as secondary raw materials, the project fosters a new cycle of production and consumption that is both eco‐friendly and economically sound. This initiative encourages industrial players to view their waste not merely as a disposal challenge but as an opportunity to contribute to a larger environmental solution. Offering comprehensive waste management assessments and targeted service creation pathways, the platform not only refines traditional waste handling but revitalises it. Located at Route de l’Ile-au-Bois 1a, 1870 Monthey, with a point of contact at contact@wava.exchange, this project invites industry participants to take advantage of an emerging movement towards sustainable resource management… an opportunity that resonates with the pressing need to adapt and innovate in today’s world.
