CASSIO is a plane that uses hybrid-electric propulsion to fly quickly and in a way that is good for the environment.
CASSIO is a one-of-a-kind general aviation aircraft with seats for 4-10 passengers and the world’s first parallel and series distributed hybrid propulsion system. The patented propulsion system has a total power of 600 kW, enabling for heavy-hybrid flight durations of up to 1,200 km and 3.5 hours of flying autonomy. The aircraft may be configured for several flying modes, ranging from pure-electric flight (with a range of up to 200 km.) to heavy-hybrid mode, which uses the maximum 600 kW energy output for lengths greater than 600 km, thanks to this propulsion arrangement and CASSIO’s modular architecture. Because the majority of short-haul routes in Europe have flight distances of 100 to 1,000 kilometers, CASSIO will provide a new way of transport that will: allow access to more communities; improve regional mobility; and alleviate road congestion problems – all while remaining safe and environmentally friendly.
