What is the 10Power Project?
100% Renewables for 100% Humanity… 10Power is committed to supporting Native American Tribal Nations in the just transition, helping communities build, own, and operate renewable energy projects. The project provides support with a host of energy initiatives—solar PV, energy storage, solar thermal, energy efficiency, bio‐energy, geothermal, and even regenerative agriculture & food systems—all designed to bring clean, green energy to those who need it most. Launched in 2015 in Haiti, where high costs and low access to electricity once plagued local communities, the project has evolved into an initiative focused on community-driven solutions. With an approach that listens to what communities envision for renewable energy, 10Power works with knowledge keepers to incorporate indigenous wisdom into modern science, cultivating a unique blend of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and contemporary technologies.
Main Benefits of the Project
- 100% renewables for 100% humanity – a bold vision supporting every human being.
- Support for Native American Tribal Nations, leading the green revolution and ensuring a just transition.
- Expertise in multiple renewable energy sectors including solar PV, energy storage, solar thermal, and geothermal – plus energy efficiency and bio-energy.
- Robust tracking of Federal grants, State funding opportunities, philanthropic donors, and investors who help build strong capital stacks with grants, equity, and debt.
- Community-driven project development that creates local jobs, provides training (including opportunities for women solar installers), and champions gender equity.
Community Engagement & Vision
The project is deeply rooted in community engagement. It begins by carefully understanding what each community envisions for its renewable energy future before any project takes shape. There’s a genuine respect for the wisdom of local knowledge keepers—those who hold centuries-old traditions and insights—and this input is combined with modern renewable technologies in a conversation that flows naturally, almost like a friendly chat over coffee. The idea of “Re-indiginize,” a term coined by Cody Two Bears of Standing Rock, encapsulates this approach, embracing indigenous wisdom as the key to reversing climate change and restoring a regenerative trajectory for the evolution of our species on planet earth.
Innovative Renewable Solutions
From solar installations powering clean water projects to the creation of solar-powered water desalination plants, innovative renewable solutions are at the heart of the 10Power project. For instance, one of the first projects involved financing two solar installations for social enterprise dloHaiti—an endeavor that not only brought clean water to communities but also underscored the potential of renewable energy to bridge critical access gaps. The construction of the solar-powered water desalination plant was a game changer, presenting an inspiring example of how renewable technologies can be applied in a practical, community-benefitting way. Training opportunities were provided to women solar installers, emphasizing not only energy access but also social equity.
Collaborative Partnerships
The strength of the initiative lies in its ability to bring together diverse partners on a common mission. Working closely with local partners, the project has developed renewable energy systems that adhere to the highest industry standards. Collaborations extend to indigenous-led organizations, such as the Indigenized Energy Initiative—which now operates as the Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy—and partnerships with tribal groups like the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska (ITKN). With the ITKN securing a $9.4 million Federal grant in support of renewable projects, the project’s capacity to mobilize funding, technical support, and training is evident. These partnerships ensure that projects are not only technically sound but also culturally aligned and community-focused.
Focused on Sustainable Development
By tracking Federal and State funding opportunities, philanthropic donors, and investors, the strategy ensures that every project stacks capital effectively—from grants to equity and debt. Each project is designed to foster long-term community benefits, create local employment opportunities, and maintain adherence to environmental and social standards. The approach is comprehensive, touching on every aspect of clean energy production and utilization while staying true to the mission of restoring a harmonious relationship between humanity and the ecosystem. The flow of knowledge, technology, and funding is managed with precision, ensuring that every initiative not only meets current needs but is also sustainable for generations to come.
Project Impact on Sustainable Development Goals
- SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy – Increasing electricity access for communities while using renewable sources.
- SDG 13: Climate Action – Actively working to reverse climate change with sustainable energy solutions.
- SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Powering clean water initiatives like solar-powered water desalination plants.
- SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth – Creating local jobs, building community capacity, and ensuring gender equity in training and employment.
- SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Fostering community-led development with renewable energy infrastructure.
The Path Forward
The vision remains clear: restoring a regenerative trajectory for our evolution on planet earth through the power of renewable energy. The project continues to expand its footprint by supporting Tribal Nations and other underserved communities, ensuring that the energy produced is truly sustainable and accessible. With a track record that includes transformative projects in Haiti and promising initiatives with Native American tribes, the journey is marked by pragmatic innovation, deep respect for indigenous wisdom, and robust community engagement. Every step is taken with an eye on a future where energy is not only renewable but also a catalyst for social equity and environmental restoration… a future where every community can thrive.
