A good way to fix structures made out of corrugated steel.
The solution offers a good way to fix culverts while having little effect on the shape of the infrastructure (most important factor for these assets from a regulatory point of view). The solution is based on a new technology that allows for better design because of how well the materials work. The goal of the solution is to give public works owners and road/motorway managers a long-lasting solution that is easier on the environment and lets them fix buried metal culverts that are badly rusted and at the end of their useful lives. The solution gives them the chance to be brought back to their full capacity to handle traffic loads, to have their remaining life extended by 100 years, and to keep their passage clearance so that they can keep doing their main job, which is to provide a road or agricultural passage and/or to keep the flow of waterways going without increasing the risk of flooding.
Positive facts about Ductal®
Reduction by 90% the steel bars reinforcement
Reduce thickness of solution by 70%
Reduce by ~60% the use of freshwater
Reduce by 64% the Global Warming Potential vs mainstream solution
Reusability of current structures instead of A) demolishing and building new one or B) repair every 15/20 years
Produce 95% less waste
Elimination of any maintenance cost associated and extension of service life to 100 years – For the alternative, there is maintenance costs every 15/20 years and full repair of the asset every 35 years
The lower consumption of materials allows reducing the duration of the jobsite by 50% and indirectly all associated costs generated by a jobsite (personel, equipment, mobile offices, energy, water…)
