Treedom – Plant trees in a click and follow it online while providing environmental and social benefits.
Developed in 2010 in Italia, Treedom provides a solution to Responsible consumption & production – in line with sustainable development goals for the future.
How is it contributing to sustainability :
- Treedom can be used by:
- 1) consumers to support rural communities or environmental causes
- 2) Companies to communicate their environmental commitment, engage stakeholders
- 3) Public bodies to involve citizens in fundraising and monitoring of urban greenery.
- The project developer is given a GPS device, with Treedom software and the device is used to take pictures and geolocate the trees.
- Treedom has developed a software that can calculate the CO2 storage capability of single trees in different environments, starting from input on the tree species, the host country, the temperature and rainfall index.
- Since its birth Treedom has planted over 1.2 million trees that will benefit over 70,000 farmers.
- SROI analysis of the Kisii project (Kenya) has estimated the social value of each tree at 25$.
- Provides an all-in-one CSR activity, tackling environmental protection and social-economic development, with high level of engagement and transparency.
- Farmers in developing countries can plant fruit trees, guaranteeing food security, and extra income.
