Putting more solar panels on buildings and in urban areas that are already there.
99% of a city is made up of the buildings that are already there. Putting renewable energy sources into buildings that already exist can be hard because of technical and legal restrictions. SOLARBOX has come up with a new way for existing buildings to use renewable energy to solve this problem.
SOLARBOX uses PV technology in laminated glass to make power from the sun while still meeting regulations for the way old buildings look from the outside. SOLARBOX can be changed in many ways (like size and color), so it can be used to make clean, renewable energy in protected buildings like old city centers, castles, and churches.
Positive facts about SOLARBOX
- Environmentally positive in 3-4 years
- A medium-scale installation produces over 250 MWh of energy per year
- Return on investment in 7 to 10 years
- Potential to sell energy produced back to the grid
- 2.5 times greater installed power on a rooftop compare to normal rooftop PV installation
