A web app and a set of application programming interfaces (APIs) that estimate and predict the CO2 and other effects of any flight.
The goal of this solution is to give aircraft operators a way to cut down on both CO2 and non-CO2 effects of flights. This solution depends on being able to predict so-called climate-sensitive areas every day, where the effects of things other than CO2 (NOx, persistent contrails) are more important, and on being able to tell aircraft operators how to avoid these areas.
Positive facts about Flights Footprint Estimator
Avoiding 100 km in persistent contrails conditions can save up to 1100 kgCO2eq, which is the equivalent of 348 kg of fuel savings
Using mainstream fuel efficiency solutions would require 4 to 5 flights to reach the same CO2eq reduction
Non-CO2 effects (NOx, Contrails, water vapour) contribute to 40 to 60% of aircraft operators climate footprint ,
By avoiding climate sensitive areas, the climate impact of a flight can be immediately reduced by up to 40%
Acting on less than 10% of the flights operated by an aircraft operator can imply up to a 25% reduction of the total climate impact of this operator
In the frame of a CO2eq offsetting, reducing the climate footprint of an aircraft operators regional route would lead to 100k€ savings per year.,
Makes nonCO2 effects reduction achievable with a solution tens of times cheaper than the cost of SAF required to reach the same CO2eq target
