Solar heat as a service: giving industrial heat users clean energy.
Process heat makes up two-thirds of the energy used in industry, and 90% of the energy used in both developed and developing countries comes from fossil fuels. This makes up 25% of the world’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. If countries want to be successful in their energy transition, they must decarbonize these activities. This must be done while keeping the industrials (the heat consumers) competitive on their markets, protecting them from changes in energy prices, and keeping their investment capacity for their production core assets. The goal of Solar Heat as a Service (SHaaS) is to give large industrial users CO2-free, reliable, affordable, local solar heat for their production processes. Solar Heat as a Service uses solar collectors and heat storage to provide heat to industrial sites based on their needs. This saves fossil fuels, which is good for the environment. Customers pay based on how much energy they use and how it is measured. They are offered very stable prices for several years and are protected from the fluctuating prices on the market. Since this solution doesn’t need their money, they can put their attention on investments that are more in line with their core strategy.
