Data to electron – A smart power plant control system for photovoltaic power plants that enables the provision of ancillary services for the electrical grid.
Developed in 1999 in Chile, First Solar EnergĂa Limitada provides a solution to Affordable & clean energy, – in line with sustainable development goals for the future.
- 1 MWh of frequency regulation produced by a PV plant produces 0 kg CO2, SO2 and NO2.
- The reaction time of a PV plant providing ancillary services is 10 times faster than the faster conventional power plant (gas aeroderivative turbines).
- Variable renewable energy can stabilize the grid.
- Capable of saving approx. 3,79 kg of SO2, 1,66kg of NO2 per MWh of frequency regulation produced a PV plant compared to coal power plant.
- Less than 3 year payback under current market conditions.
- Under curtailment conditions and spot prices of 0 USD/MWh, allows the PV plant owner to have an incremental revenue .
