ECOTHOR can work in three different ways: electro-oxidation, electro-coagulation, and/or electro-disinfection. These modes can be used to remove contaminants like ammonia nitrogen, phosphorus, metals like Cu, Zn, Ni, Mn, As, Se, coliforms, pathogens, bacteria, suspended solids, complex hydrocarbons, cyanides, thiocyanates, fluorides, particulate BOD/COD, and micro-contamin (including PFAS, hormones, pharma waste). Because of how it is made, it uses less than 1 kWh of electricity per m3 of leachate. With its unique magnesium anode and its ability to remove up to 80% of zinc, the installation can have a short payback period and reduce OPEX by up to 90%. Now, municipal and industrial sites can get rid of leachate in a way that is safe, cheap, and doesn’t hurt the environment.
