Via its app, CoGo calculate your carbon footprint and makes you more conscious about impacts on climate change.
To work out your monthly carbon footprint, Cogo totals all the carbon footprints of your transactions in a given month.
Positive stats :
- The average monthly carbon footprint of a UK citizen is around 1,000kgs. Still, scientists around the world recommend we each reduce our carbon footprints to around 180kgs a month by 2030.
- Cogo is on track to have more than 3 million banking customers using its carbon management features by the end of 2022
Moreover, the goal is to make more people more conscious on how their spending impacts climate change and their carbon footprint. In order to affect change on a global level, CoGo works with financial institutions to reach millions of customers.
To calculate your carbon footprint, Cogo app analyses your banking data and matches every transaction to a specific category (fashion, grocery, insurance etc.). Working with third-party datasets and carbon experts, it then sets the carbon footprint for each transaction. For example, £1 spent at a UK fashion retailer creates on average 1kg CO2e.
