Separation and recovery of chromium from the wastewaters of the plating industry.
Circular Materials was given money in April 2019 to help solve the problems of removing heavy metals from industrial wastewater and getting them back. At the moment, only 5% of the heavy metals in used baths in the galvanic and plating industries are recycled. The rest are turned into toxic sludges and sent to landfills as special waste, which makes the cost of treatment go up very quickly. They have patented a way to get 99% of the heavy metals in industrial wastewater out of the water and into powder form. This is done through a sustainable and environmentally friendly precipitation process in supercritical water. The process doesn’t make any toxic sludge, but it does recover valuable metals that can be put back into the industrial process or sold as secondary raw materials.
