Developed in 2013 in Belgium, BeeOdiversity provides a solution to Clean water & sanitation, Green industry & infrastructure, Responsible consumption & production – in line with sustainable development goals for the future.
BeeOmonitoring (or biomonitoring) is a tool for measuring biodiversity and pollution through the analysis of pollen collected by bees, which act as natural drones and bioindicators.
Indeed, although pollution and a lack of biodiversity pose operational, reputational, environmental, and financial problems in many sectors, it remains difficult for many actors to take improvement steps due to a lack of indicators, among other things.
Positive Facts about BeeOmonitoring
- Can test for 25 heavy metals, 523 pesticides, PAH, dioxins, furans, PCBs, nitrates, and genetically modified organisms.
- Can cover between 70 and 700 acres per year
- BeeOdiversity has collected data for over ten years.
- Direct and indirect savings for the client in the millions of dollars;
This solution mixes nature (bees functioning as drones to collect billions of environmental samples on enormous surfaces) and technology (software processing the data).
BeeOmonitoring can :
- identify, locate, and measure the quantity of pollutants (heavy metals, 523 pesticides, nitrates, PAH, dioxins, GMO, radioactivity, and so on)
- assess plant diversity and quality by sample analysis.
- monitor industrial and agricultural pollutants,
- assess plant quality/diversity,
Which leads to
- targeted improvement decisions, and
- implementation of improvement measures to increase biodiversity.
