Recycling concrete waste into aggregates that can be used in low-carbon concrete.
Aggneo® recycles trash by putting special platforms near concrete plants and in the middle of cities (-2km). This is a loop in the way the economy works. For example, the LHB concrete plant in Lyon sends its waste to the Saint Fons platform, which turns it into road and concrete aggregates. The quality of the materials for 4/16 is checked. These things are put back into the formulas for making concrete at concrete plants. If these aggregates are left out in the open for a long time and get a lot of sunlight, they can capture and store more CO2.
Positive facts about Aggneo®
Currently the 4/16 aggeo recycled gravel for concrete is introduced up to 150kg, which means as much as 250kg per cubic meter of natural aggregates saved
Reference building in downtown Lyon can include significant volume of concrete made with recycled aggregates, and obtain a better score within a sustainable construction labelling scheme
By 2025, Holcim forecasts to produce up to 70Kt in a single platform in France (allowing the storage of 900 tonnes CO2 per year).
The operation of one single platform can result in the saving of >100kt of natural raw materials.
The integration of the solution into the urban areas provides answers to the issues of the construction sites located in the city, and the recovery of waste from deconstruction
The development of cities such as Lyon is carried out by renovating and reconstructing low-carbon housing buildings on former industrial wastelands
Holcim intends to also treat and enhance non-inert, non-hazardous polluted soil, improving the efficient use of our natural reserve.
