A switch-disconnector that works well in photovoltaic and energy storage systems.
Utility-scale solar plants are moving away from 1000Vdc and toward 1500Vdc solutions. The switch-disconnector needs to be energy efficient and able to disconnect 1500Vdc with as few poles as possible. This affects the efficiency level and reduces the amount of cabling that needs to be done. OTDC switch-disconnectors with a current range above 250A have reliable breaking power at all current levels, making them safer, more efficient, and easier to use. For 1500V DC systems, the basic setup is two poles from 315A to 800A (IEC 60947) and from 250A to 600A. (UL98B). By connecting the poles in parallel, ratings from 800A to 1000A at 1500V can be reached. There are models that can be used from the front or from the side. Because the OTDC Switch-disconnector is modular, it can be used to turn off up to three 1500Vdc circuits with just one switch. Optimized 2-pole DC switch-disconnectors for 1500V DC utility-scale photovoltaic power plants and for Energy Storage System (ESS) applications save space and are more efficient, losing up to 64% less power than the weakest on the market and working better with DC-PV2 ratings.
Positive facts about OTDC Switch-disconnector
Reduce power losses up to 64%
High performance up to DC-PV2 and DC-22B utilization categories
Up to 64% reduction of CO2 emissions annually per switch
The raw material reduction by using only 2-pole design instead of 3-pole for 1500Vdc has reduced per switch copper 43%, steel 42% and plastic 53%
The use of copper raw material reduced, because no additional connection bars are needed
Design life of the product 30 years
Due to reduced power losses the annual saving is 44 USD per switch
